What it does
Hua Ke is name and standing — the classical association is with examinations and scholarly reputation, and the modern reading follows directly: being known for something, and being helped because of it.
It is the quietest of the four. It does not add resources like 禄 or force like 权; it adds the fact of being seen.
How to read it
The tradition also gives it a rescuing function — 逢凶化吉, difficulty softened by reputation or by someone stepping in. A 科 near a troubled palace genuinely takes the edge off, and that is one of the more reliable classical readings.
This is the transformation most likely to land on a minor star rather than a major one — 文昌 and 文曲 in particular. Our dial draws the letter regardless of which star carries it; a version that only marks major stars silently loses transformations, which is a bug we have fixed rather than a feature of the method.
Look for Renown on your chart — that palace is where your name does some of the work for you.
