The Four Transformations

The four transformations — Prosperity, Power, Renown, Adversity — are what turn a static chart into something that changes. Each heavenly stem assigns the four to four specific stars, and every layer of time (decade, year, month, day, hour) brings its own stem and therefore its own set.

This is the part of Zi Wei Dou Shu with no real equivalent in Western astrology, and it is where most of the practical reading happens. A star does one thing; a star carrying Adversity this year does something else.

One honest note: the transformation table is not fully agreed across lineages, and the 庚 stem in particular is disputed. We follow the 倪海厦《天纪》 lineage consistently, and our table is verified against an independently transcribed classical source.
