The Peacemaker
Things loosen when you arrive. That ease is a real skill — and it has a price.
What it is
Tian Tong is the star of ease — 福星, the blessing star. It is the only one of the fourteen whose classical strength is comfort rather than achievement, and that makes it the most misread of the set.
What it actually confers is the capacity to be content, which is not the same as the capacity to be idle.
How it actually shows up
People unclench around a Peacemaker. Meetings get less adversarial; families get less brittle. It is a real skill, and it is invisible precisely because it works by preventing things from happening.
The classics attach a youthfulness to this star that persists well past youth — a lack of accumulated hardness that reads, correctly, as approachability.
What tests it
Comfort itself. Tian Tong under no pressure stays exactly where it is, and the traditional texts are surprisingly harsh about this: the blessing star needs some adversity or the blessing is never spent on anything.
This is one of the few configurations where the classics treat a nearby malefic star as helpful rather than harmful. 天同 with a little friction achieves; 天同 with none is comfortable and unfinished.
