Called 福德 — fortune and virtue — and it is the palace of inner life: pleasure, anxiety, spiritual inclination, and what a person is like when nothing in particular is happening.
Of the twelve, this is the one that most directly describes quality of life rather than circumstances. Two people with identical Wealth and Career palaces can be having completely different experiences, and this palace is where you see it.
How to read it
Read it as the mind's baseline load, alongside Health as the body's. 天同 here is the classical marker for genuine ease; 巨门 or a 忌 describes a mind that chews on things.
It also carries taste and enjoyment. The classics tie this palace to what a person finds pleasurable, which is more informative about a life than most of the material palaces.
Why it is underrated
People come to a chart asking about money and love and skip straight past this one. It is frequently the palace that explains why a life that looks fine from outside does not feel that way from inside.
