Movement, and everything that happens outside familiar ground: relocation, travel, the version of you that shows up in a room where nobody knows your history.
Structurally it is the most important supporting palace on the chart, because it sits directly opposite the Self palace and is always read together with it.
How to read it
Compare it to the Self palace directly. A quiet Self with a strong Travel palace is the classic 出外 configuration — someone who does noticeably better away from home ground. The reverse describes someone whose strength is local and whose reach shortens with distance.
When the Self palace is empty, this palace is what it borrows from. In that case the Travel reading is not supporting information — it is the primary one.
Why it matters more than it sounds
For anyone who has moved countries, changed industries, or rebuilt a life somewhere new, this palace often explains more than the Self palace does. The classics knew this — 出外 is one of the oldest practical readings in the system.
